Danyl Patterson is an attorney, visionary, and candidate for State Representative for the 190th Legislative District of West Philadelphia. Advocating for her community has been a driving force in all her work from attending law school to community organizing. She received her Bachelor of Arts from La Salle University. She went on to attend the Villanova University School of Law, where she received her Juris Doctorate, and later earned her Master’s of Law in Trial Advocacy from James E. Beasley School of Law at Temple University. As a native West Philadelphian, she’s witnessed the role disenfranchisement has played in her neighborhood...thus she remains devoted to leveling the playing field by advocating for pre-school programs for children in West Philly. She also created the platform, Legal Lessons for life, because she realized how beneficial sharing her knowledge would be to people in her beloved community.
Danyl is currently a member of several organizations that reflect these core values. She proudly serves as a member of the Barristers' Association of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Association for Justice, National Bar Association, Leadership Philadelphia, Black Women's Leadership Council Advisory Committee on Legislation, and the Head Start Alumni Association. She states “As a lawyer, I can fight for one person at a time...As a legislator, I can fight for the entire community."
Her vision for equitable educational opportunities for youth and economic justice for Philadelphians will inform every decision she makes in her role as a legislator.
